Global Internship Program

As a McKinsey intern you receive valuable work experience through being a member of a real project team. You will also get an inside view of consulting in general and McKinsey in particular. You will become familiar with critical challenges that top-level clients from various industries are facing, applying your own and McKinsey's expertise in day-to-day problem solving. Working with McKinsey experts from around the world, you will receive regular coaching from senior consultants including your project manager and a designated mentor, and you will have a consultant on your team to help you in everyday work. During your internship you will receive continuous feedback on your professional development as well as a detailed performance review. You will also have a chance to network with other consultants and businesspeople and to have fun with your colleagues.

Global Internship opportunity 

Our Global Internship program offers a hands-on opportunity to work as a consultant for approximately 8 to 12 weeks.

The participants in our internship program will be placed on a project based in either Helsinki or another McKinsey location. Both alternatives offer international exposure through an international project team and experts.

The interns located in another McKinsey location will work from Monday to Thursday abroad and spend Friday in their home office in Helsinki.

Timing of the internship

The timing of the internship is flexible, and we have start days all year round, including during summer. We recommend applying for an internship at least six months prior to the preferred internship period. 

Participation requirements

The internship programs are intended for bachelor’s/master’s students who are interested in consulting, have intellectual curiosity as well as excellent work ethic and people skills, and have the ability to structure and solve problems. We are expecting evidence of excellent academic achievements and completion at minimum of 100 credits at the time of application. Our internship is aimed for students studying their entire degree in Finland or Finnish students studying abroad.

The next application period for the Global Internship program will be from March 1 to April 15, 2012. We will be inviting candidates to first-round interviews even during the application period.

When filling in the online form, choose "Helsinki Office" as the office and "Fellow Intern" as a position.
