By participating in mobility opportunities at McKinsey, you can experience our firm’s global reach and build a network of clients and colleagues around the world. A geographic move offers unparalleled opportunity for professional and personal growth—bolstering cross-cultural problem-solving and people skills, and allowing you to craft a career that reflects your interests.

• Engagement loan. You can relocate to another office or client location for a period of six months or less to participate as a team member on a specific engagement.
• Global Rotation Program. You can undertake two 6- to 9-month international transfers, usually in sequence. After the rotation, you’ll return to your home office.

• One-year transfer. If you want to see what another office is like, you can move there for a year.
• Long-term or permanent transfer. If you’d like to settle down somewhere for professional or personal reasons, you can move to a new office permanently.

A culture of moving
Half of our partners and more than 20 percent of our associates have worked outside their home region. Each year, more than 200 consultants take short- or long-term transfers. And last year, 42 percent of nonpartners relocated on an engagement loan. They’re rewarded with experiences that enrich their career.
