After the "War Economy": The Role of the Private Sector in Afghanistan's Future

The challenge in Afghanistan is how to build, strengthen and sustain a state that can provide security, stability and support to its people in the face of resilient insurgencies. This chapter argues that the international community’s approach to this challenge—especially as international security forces withdraw by the end of 2014—needs to recognise the three critical factors.
