Careers in Greece

As a consultant in our Athens office, you will be part of a vibrant and entrepreneurial team, working on the most serious challenges facing Greek companies.

Working at the Athens office

Our Athens office is a vibrant, entrepreneurial, and close-knit environment that offers unparalleled opportunities for people to grow. It is small, which means that consultants work in teams that foster apprenticeship; they interact with senior clients from their very first days at McKinsey, helping address the most serious challenges facing companies and organizations.

Our consultants are based in Athens, and they support the leading corporates of Greece’s most important industries—to weather the storm of the ongoing crisis and to effectively compete with their international peers. Our people also work as valued team members on projects around the world, and they have the opportunity to participate in exchange programs with some of our larger offices in more mature markets. By working abroad, we build perspectives and insights that we can bring back to our local clients while also gaining experience in sectors or functions that are less developed in Greece.

Beyond project work, we foster a strong family spirit in the Athens office with regular social events that help forge strong professional and personal relationships.

What we look for

We hire outstanding people from diverse academic and professional backgrounds. We particularly welcome candidates with a strong record of academic achievement in top-class degrees (including engineering, economics, finance, and social or natural sciences), with or without professional experience. Most important, we look for candidates who can demonstrate problem-solving skills as well as qualities such as ambition for personal impact, entrepreneurial spirit, and leadership ability.

Roles at McKinsey Athens

The Athens office has four entry levels: junior business analyst, business analyst, junior associate, and associate. We therefore welcome candidates with an undergraduate degree and no work experience, as well as more experienced candidates with postgraduate degrees (master’s, MBA, or PhD) and work experience.

Summer internship program

We run a summer-internship program, lasting on average from 6 to 8 weeks, for postgraduate and undergraduate students in the penultimate year of their degree. There are usually limited positions available for our summer-internship program, so candidates are advised to launch their application at the beginning of the calendar year.

Summer interns get a firsthand experience of the day-to-day life of a McKinsey consultant by conducting real work as an integral part of a client-service team. Interns who complete the summer program successfully may be offered a permanent role with us.

Application process

Candidates can expect a rigorous selection process that includes both written assessments and interviews. We provide guidelines and practice material for both the case study-based assessments and the interview process itself. Reviewing this material and preparing well ahead of our recruiting process have proven to be very important for the success of our candidates.

To ensure your application reaches us, please indicate Athens as your preferred location when completing your application.
