Energy & Materials is the largest industry practice in McKinsey’s London office, with more than 15 partners. We serve UK and global companies on challenges in strategy, organisation and operations.
Chemicals
Our clients in the chemicals industry range from start-ups to mid-sized companies and global leaders. We advise them on corporate and business-unit strategy, organisation, post-merger management, growth, innovation, industry structure and performance management, as well as all aspects of operational improvement. In addition, we support clients in allied industries such as cement and fertilisers.
Electrical power and natural gas
In this liberalised and rapidly expanding sector, we advise clients on topics including organisational restructuring, capability building and top-team management, as well as capital investment, cost reduction, performance improvement, networks and logistics. We also offer strategic direction on mission, sales, economics and procurement.
Metals and mining
We serve companies in the steel, nonferrous metals and mining industries around the world, many of which are based in the UK. Our clients range from small niche players to large commodity producers, and we help them tackle challenges at all points in the value chain from mining to distribution.
Oil and gas
We serve UK and global companies across the entire value chain, including the corporate centre as well as the business units for upstream, refining, marketing and other functions. In addition to providing clients with high-level strategic advice, we help with implementation using our hands-on approach to improving performance.
