About Sandy

Sandy is a senior leader in our Financial Services Practice in the EMEA region and helps lead our work on credit risk globally. Since joining McKinsey in 1994, she has advised banks and other financial institutions in Europe and North America on a wide range of strategic, organizational, operational, risk-management, and regulatory issues. Before moving to London in 2008, Sandy was based in Boston, serving as managing partner of our office there for four years.

Sandy directs our work in cash-equities trading and over-the-counter derivatives clearing for several financial institutions, as well as our research on US and European market-structure evolution. At a number of global banks, she has led comprehensive, multiyear transformation programs that span all corporate and retail business lines. Other recent projects have involved advising banks on the application and impact of post-crisis reforms such as Basel III and Dodd-Frank, helping banks optimize their fixed-income origination and trading businesses, and assisting leaders in transaction services on post-merger management, strategy, pricing, and global operating models.

In addition, Sandy pioneered our work with top firms in the professional services, law, and executive-search industries on topics such as governance, client-relationship management, talent management, and resource deployment.

She has also been active in helping industry associations and governments evaluate their regulatory agendas and enhance competitiveness in the financial sector. She led McKinsey’s work for US Senator Charles Schumer and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, which culminated in a report, Sustaining New York’s and the US’ global financial services leadership (PDF–1.67 MB). She directed a similar project for the Boston Chamber of Commerce, helping to publish Securing Massachusetts’s leadership position in financial services (PDF–808 KB).

Sandy is a member of the Institute of International Finance’s Cross-border Resolution Working Group and a frequent speaker to industry organizations, politicians, and regulators on financial topics.
