About Angela

Dr. Angela Spatharou is a principal in McKinsey’s London office and leads our work in consumer health and behavioural change and prevention. She also co-leads McKinsey’s Healthcare Practice in Greece.

Angela has extensive experience in integrated health management and long-term care, with a special focus on mental health and wellbeing and the prevention of diabetes and obesity.

Among recent projects, Angela has advised on the reconfiguration of an acute hospital and the development of an integrated care programme for out-of-hospital care, bringing together primary, community and social care along with acute care and mental health. She has supported major US insurers on the design of pilots for health and wellness programmes to reduce risk and improve patient outcomes, and assisted with a national pilot to prevent diabetes through behaviour change in Australia. She is a frequent speaker at conferences on health promotion and the healthcare industry.

Outside McKinsey, Angela chairs the board of Kids’ City, a charity providing out-of-school activities for children in deprived parts of London, and she is a member of the Court of Governors at the London School of Economics.

Earlier in her career, Angela worked as general counsel for an international medical education programme, liaising with the World Health Organisation, USAID and African hospitals and governments. She holds a doctorate in politics and an MPhil in international relations from the University of Cambridge, where she was an Onassis Scholar.
