About Maria
Maria del Mar is a Partner in McKinsey’s Madrid office. She has over 15 years’ experience advising financial institutions in Europe and Latin America. She also leads McKinsey’s Healthcare Practice in Iberia.
Maria is a core leader of McKinsey’s European banking group and has also led our consumer-finance group in Europe. She has supported leading financial institutions on corporate and business-unit strategy and growth initiatives like credit cards and consumer credit. Maria also leads McKinsey’s Risk Management Practice in Iberia, shaping major capital optimization programs, defining real estate optimization strategies and working with leading companies to design and implement risk mapping, stress testing and value transformation programs.
For the past five years, Maria has also devoted a significant part of her time to supporting the public sector. She is particularly passionate about healthcare and has worked with both government and private healthcare companies to address the sector’s key challenges. This has included supporting several Spanish regions to define their healthcare plans and chronic-care strategies for 2011-15.
Maria is deeply committed to women’s professional advancement, and is part of McKinsey’s European women’s leadership group. She was one of McKinsey’s first female partners in Iberia, and was elected to the role when she was on a part-time program after having her first child.
