About Carlos

Carlos Trascasa is a Director in McKinsey’s Madrid office, leads our financial-services work in Iberia, and is member of the leadership of the European Financial Institutions Group. He has over 25 years of experience advising major financial institutions in both mature and developing markets across the five continents, at all stages of the economic cycle.

Carlos has supported high-impact profit improvement programs for both private and state-owned banking groups. He has also led major organizational restructuring efforts—including rationalizing large branch distribution networks and central services in Europe and helping large South American, Asian, and African institutions migrate from product-based to client-focused organizational models.

Carlos’ expertise also includes developing strategies for optimizing bank balance sheets, liquidity programs and risk underwriting policies.

Carlos is deeply involved in advancing banking knowledge that is rooted in strong quantitative analysis. Areas of focus include pricing, customer-value management, multichannel management, and risk. For example, Carlos has been a pioneer of advanced pricing systems in retail banking and has helped implement customer-information-management programs in more than 15 banks worldwide.

Carlos has published several articles and research studies on these topics and speaks frequently at international conferences.

Outside McKinsey, Carlos serves on the boards of several Spanish and international foundations and nonprofits, including in the fields of oncology, education, and business in the community.
