Our most valuable asset is our people and we invest a major effort in attracting and retaining exceptional people. Through formal training programs, on-the-job coaching and mentoring, we help our consultants reach their full potential. All of our new consultants start with an introductory training program, Basic Consulting Readiness, to introduce them to consulting at McKinsey. This is a week-long training program covering the basics of problem solving, case studies, teamwork, communication, and our core values. But that is just the beginning. To further help you strengthen your skills during your career at McKinsey, you will enjoy an average of one week of formal training per year in addition to a variety of local and practice-related training opportunities.
In order to help you to have the best start possible in the Madrid office, upon your arrival, we assign you a senior consultant who will act as your development group leader. He or she will coach you, monitor your professional development, and help you in balancing your professional and personal life. As well as assigning you a senior consultant, we will find you a junior consultant who will act as your “buddy” and help you settle in.
There is also a variety of professional networks connected with our practice groups and different interest groups within McKinsey, which allow you to create a great network within the firm. For example, our women’s network is very active in Spain, organizing regular gatherings and coaching initiatives.
