The Business Technology (BT) Practice takes a top management approach and looks at technology through a business lens. We offer independent, objective advice on how technology can improve our clients’ performance. We do not recommend, design, or implement technology products and have no alliances with third-party providers.
Business Technology is McKinsey's largest practice with 700 consultants who work with top-level executives on the most relevant technological issues. They serve a wide range of sectors such as energy, telecommunications, finance, and healthcare.
The Spain and Portugal BT office is part of the Europe/Middle East/Africa region with more than 350 consultants; it accounts for more than 50 percent of the IT projects done in the last five years. In Spain and Portugal, we are advisors on the most challenging technology issues. Examples of our work include:
- helping a global financial institution think through its development processes to reduce cycle time and improve efficiency
- driving 30% percent productivity increase in a bank’s IT organization by streamlining operations and management techniques
- supporting the wholesale banking division of a multi-national bank to think through its e-commerce strategy and to design a new IT architecture
- creating centers of excellence off-shore to reduce cost for a global telecom company
