Metals & Mining

Metals and mining is one of the key sectors served by McKinsey's Moscow office. Since 1993, we have supported 140 projects for Russian and Ukrainian majors in these industries.

Our practice focuses on improving key dimensions of business performance, helping clients in a number of areas:

  • Strategy development: We serve major companies by defining optimal growth options, preparing strategies by business line, and providing M&A support (for example, analysis of potential acquisition targets).
  • Production improvement. We provide comprehensive support to optimize production processes, improve equipment performance, reduce costs, and enhance maintenance systems and purchasing processes.
  • Organization strategy. We recently assisted with the creation of a single corporate center for a major metallurgy holding company and developed organizational solutions for maintenance functions.
  • Investment strategy. We work with our clients to improve investment processes and optimize investment portfolios and current capital projects.
