Since joining McKinsey in 1998, Yermolai has developed wide experience strategy development, operations and sales improvements, and organizational and governance system transformation for companies in the metallurgy, oil and gas, aircraft, and transportation sectors. He takes an active part in projects related to municipal and regional infrastructure development , as well as healthcare system improvement efforts aimed at improving the quality of services provided by healthcare institutions.
Examples of his projects in the metallurgy and mining industry include: opex and capex optimization to facilitate output increase for a leading Russian integrated metals company; improving commercial processes for a pipe mill, including establishing a key accounts unit; capex optimization in the context of critical path development for a major Russian metals and mining company; appraisal of several metallurgical assets in Russia based on the results of a detailed analysis of the global and local metals and mining industry development.
Examples of his projects in the oil and gas industry include: retail strategy development for a major Russian vertically integrated oil company; support for the integration of a transnational oil company and a Russian oil company; development of a new organization and processes for the downstream division of a leading Russian integrated oil company, as well as development of a production planning system (including elaboration and implementation of a model for distribution of crude oil and oil product flows across the company’s sales channels).
Yermolai is a leader of McKinsey EMEA Metals & Mining Practice and a co-leader of McKinsey’s EMEA Oil & Gas Practice. He is a member of our global Travel, Infrastructure, and Logistics Practice and takes an active part in international projects to develop new approaches to operations improvements for companies in the raw materials sector.Yermolai is a also a co-leader of McKinsey’s Healthcare and Pharmaceuticals and Medical Products practices in Europe.
Before joining McKinsey, Yermolai spent several years working in China and Taiwan and, later, as a consultant at the World Bank in Washington DC.
