About Pål

Pål leads McKinsey’s Eastern European offices, comprising Moscow, Kiev, Budapest, Prague, Bucharest, and Zagreb. Prior to joining the Moscow office in 2010, he was McKinsey’s location leader in Norway.

In his work with clients, Pål is a thought partner and trusted advisor to some of the largest companies in the region. McKinsey serves both local market leaders and multinational companies that have entered Eastern Europe. With some 350 consultants in the region, the firm works with companies across a wide range of industries, including oil and gas, metals and mining, banking, energy, healthcare, insurance, manufacturing, public utilities, retailing, telecommunications, and transportation. Under Pål’s leadership, the office is also expanding support for public-sector organizations, governments, nonprofit institutions, small to medium-size businesses, and high-tech startups.

In addition to his regional leadership role, Pål is a senior leader in both our Telecommunications and High Tech Practices as well as our Eastern European Strategy Practice. He brings to clients extensive experience in strategy development, structuring M&A deals, and operations optimization, specifically the implementation of lean-manufacturing systems for telecom and high-tech companies in Europe. He has also led a number of projects for leading European private equity funds.

Pål lives in Moscow with his wife and three children.
