About Anatoly

Anatoly Ermolov joined McKinsey’s Moscow office in 2005.

His main area of focus is performance improvement programs for large power generation and engineering companies. He has led a number of large-scale projects to reduce costs and improve operations and procurement.

Among recent examples of his work, Anatoly helped a power generator improve its production systems by applying Lean principles to operations, maintenance and repairs, and interactions between the technical and commercial functions. He also developed a comprehensive performance improvement program for a heavy engineering company, focusing on project execution issues—such as improving interactions between design, sales and production personnel and introducing greater transparency into production planning.

Other examples of his work include reducing costs across strategic procurement categories for an energy holding company with coal-producing and power-generating assets; developing a target organizational structure and redesigning processes in the procurement unit of a machine-tool holding company; developing a strategy to improve the profitability of a key product in the portfolio of a machine-tool company, focusing both on production and after-sales service developing a heat supply strategy for a major Russian regional energy generator; designing a strategy for a power equipment manufacturer, including market modeling and research of customer preferences and competitor analysis; developing a performance management system for a major Russian energy holding company.

Anatoly is a member of McKinsey’s global Electric Power & Natural Gas and Operations practices.

In 2009, as Vice President for procurement, Anatoly led the procurement transformation initiatives for OAO Fortum.
Prior to joining McKinsey, he worked as a client relationship manager for ABN AMRO.
