Why I decided to apply
It wasn’t so easy to decide what I was going to do after graduating! Some of McKinsey's assets were the colleagues, the access to exciting industries and the international possibilities. But I seriously considered other options, too. Finally, I just went out for a long bike ride to make up my mind. When I came back home, I wrote down my preferred employer on a poster-sized sheet and stuck it to my bedroom wall. The next morning I opened my eyes, saw 'McKinsey,' and knew the choice was right.
My first thought when I started at McKinsey
There we go! Finally!
Proudest moment
I just feel proud to be part of this truly global firm. The number of people all over the world who are ready to help you is unbelievable. And the many exciting projects that McKinsey is involved in, in industries I am passionate about, also make me feel proud.
Strangest place I ever had breakfast while at McKinsey
Olifants Rest Camp in Kruger Park, South Africa. During my internship in Johannesburg, three colleagues and I went for a safari trip in Kruger Park.
Favorite movie
So-called art-house films like Babel and The King's Speech. And of course, all Will Ferrell movies (The Other Guys is really, really, really good!)
Favorite website
Lucky Media TV for stupid laughs and www.nos.nl or www.fd.nl for the latest news.
Skill I never thought I’d have
Extracting a cork from an empty wine bottle without breaking it. (I actually learned this at McKinsey.)
Favorite restaurant/ bar/ club in the Netherlands
Gashouder for the best techno parties, Hoppe for a casual chat and drink, and Pata Negra for tasty tapas.
