Proudest moment
Being part of the faculty for the “Alpine University” business course. With 20 promising students, we went to Kitzbühel in Austria, and had a few great days working on personal development. Back in Amsterdam, we spent time on solving a business case and having dinner, lunch and drinks with other consultants. The group of students was amazing; I was very impressed with their creativity, personal ambitions, and solutions for the business case.
What next?
In September, I am going to Oxford to get my MBA at Said Business School. I am really looking forward to improving my business acumen and enjoying the freedom of being a student for a year again. Afterward, I’ll be returning to McKinsey as an associate.
Favorite movie/sites
Pulp Fiction.
Favorite Web site
Youtube.com, always good input for a 5-minute break.
Skill I never thought I’d have
Careful listening. I never realized how essential good listening would be in consultancy.
My toughest day
In my first project, I led a workshop with senior clients on a topic I had only started learning about two days before. Obviously, I was very nervous about how to lead the discussion without a deep understanding of the topic. But I managed to ask the right, simple questions and I survived. It made me more confident.
Activities outside McKinsey
I am not sure if it qualifies as “activity,” but I truly enjoy eating apple cake at the Noordermarkt on a Saturday.
Favorite restaurant in the Netherlands
Café Restaurant Amsterdam. Besides the superb interior, they have a “Kinder surprise ei” on the menu…
