About Olivier
Olivier Sibony is a director in McKinsey’s Paris office. Previously he worked in our New York and Brussels offices.
He advises multinationals in the retail, consumer-packaged-goods, and fashion and luxury sectors on the elaboration and implementation of their strategies. He is currently co-leader of the global Strategy Practice, in which he has particular expertise in strategic decision-making processes and the application of behavioral economics to strategy.
Olivier has spearheaded numerous research initiatives aimed at improving strategic decision-making processes in volatile and uncertain situations, and at reducing cognitive and behavioral biases that affect decision-making. He has published articles on the strategy function, growth strategies, and decision making in the McKinsey Quarterly and the Harvard Business Review, including “Before You Make that Big Decision…,” written in collaboration with Daniel Kahneman, the 2002 Nobel economics laureate, and Dan Lovallo of the University of Sydney). He regularly writes on these subjects in the French economic press.
Olivier Sibony is also a member of the board of directors of the HEC Foundation and chairs its pedagogy and diversity committee.
Before joining McKinsey, Olivier worked as a strategic planner at Publicis in London.
He is a graduate of HEC.
