May 2015—Our comparative study of Finnish and German companies shows that internationalization and investment in innovation create growth and profitability for Finnish machinery companies. The survey, done in collaboration between the Ministry of Employment and the Economy, The Federation of Finnish Technology Industries, and McKinsey & Company, is based on responses of 150 Finnish and 330 German companies. Finnish companies, however, are less optimistic about the future than their German counterparts.
