About Genki

Genki is a leader in McKinsey’s Healthcare and Corporate Finance practices in Asia, and frequently advises his pharmaceutical clients on corporate finance and organization-related topics.

Since joining McKinsey in New York, Genki has supported both multinational and domestic pharmaceutical, medical device, and biotech companies in Japan, the US, as well as China. His previous experience as a healthcare specialist at a hedge fund and investment bank allows him to counsel healthcare and private equity clients in a range of issues, from R&D and sales force effectiveness, to product launches, organizational transformation, and cross-border M&A.

Recently Genki led a transformational cross-border acquisition and integration for a pharmaceutical client in Japan. Additional experience in the pharmaceutical sector includes:

  • Developing a pan-Asia operating model for the R&D organization of a global pharmaco
  • Assisting brand managers at a global pharmaco with incorporating customer insight and patient journey data
  • Evaluating strategic planning effectiveness and designing capability building programs for a Japanese pharmaco
  • Supporting R&D productivity improvement through transformation efforts at a Japanese Pharmaco
  • Managing the merger and integrating two global pharmacos, redesigning operational processes and governance

Genki contributes to our ongoing research of Japan economic recovery, providing perspectives on both the evolution of healthcare strategy and the pharmaceutical industry in Japan.

Genki has assisted a UN-sponsored NGO (Peaceboat) as Communication Coordinator and directed and acted with Keystone of the Pacific, a theatrical company in the West End.

Previous to joining McKinsey Genki worked at Lehman Brothers specializing in Healthcare M&A, and at Porter Orlins, a hedge fund.
