Appropriate candidates for associate positions are those individuals who:
- Have more than two years of work experience
- Are enrolled in a Japanese MBA or school of public policy program or have already graduated from an overseas graduate school or MBA program
- Are currently enrolled in an overseas MBA or graduate program; please follow the application process for your school as outlined on the global career site
- Are a PhD candidate or law-school student at a Japanese university
What associates do
Associates lead a key portion of an engagement, usually called a “workstream.” They apply a broad range of creative problem-solving skills, combining technical and analytical excellence to help solve their piece of the overall client puzzle. They synthesize conclusions into recommendations and work directly with senior client leaders to implement change.
Career-path considerations
- Each associate will attend extensive basic training upon joining
- A typical path for promotion to manager takes three to four years
- Entry point can be Associate or Junior Associate depending on individual candidate's experience, and is decided at offer stage

- Students in an MBA program may apply for a summer associate internship between the first and second years of school. Additionally, we host a two-day and a weeklong insight program for MBA students and professionals with over four years of work experience.
