About Palash
Palash Mitra is a director in McKinsey’s Delhi office and leads our Healthcare Practice in India. He has particular expertise in generic pharmaceuticals: he co-leads McKinsey's Global Generics Interest and hosts the annual McKinsey Global Generics CEO Conference.
Palash serves Indian and multinational healthcare and pharmaceuticals companies across a wide range of geographies including emerging markets, Europe, and the United States. He helps his clients shape and execute growth strategies, strengthen their organisations, and manage multiyear journeys to transform their performances.
Recent examples of his work include helping a global generics player develop a growth strategy for developed markets; working with a multinational pharmaceuticals company to accelerate its growth in Brazil, Russia, India and China; helping a global devices player develop its emerging-markets strategy; and fundamentally restructuring the cost position of a global devices player.
Palash has also partnered with an Indian pharmaceuticals player on a multiyear transformation journey to help it become a successful global organisation.
In addition to his client work, Palash plays an active role in supporting the transformation of India’s healthcare system, helping both the government and the private sector play their part in the national goal of enhancing healthcare access and quality. He has co-authored major reports on this topic. On behalf of the Indian government, he helped develop a vision to foster innovation in the pharmaceuticals sector, and he has supported private-sector innovation and market access, including in the areas of vaccines.
