McKinsey India offers opportunities for a varied set of profiles ranging from experienced professionals to people with graduate degrees. Depending on your academic background and professional experience, you can join one of McKinsey’s Indian offices in a variety of roles, typically as a junior associate or business analyst, but also as an expert with links to one of our industry or functional practices.

If you are currently pursuing your bachelor’s degree or have recently completed it and have less than 1 year of experience, you can apply as a business analyst. As a business analyst, you’ll play a key role in gathering data, contributing to the team's final recommendations, and presenting your work to senior client executives. You’ll also have a voice in determining the team's style and pace of work. After the program, business analysts often pursue advanced degrees or launch new careers. Many business analysts go on to graduate schools to get their MBA, PhD, or advanced degrees in other disciplines. Others choose to take what they've learned at McKinsey and build another career. After completing their graduate school programs, many former analysts come back to McKinsey’s India office as junior associates.

If you are currently pursuing your MBA or have recently completed your MBA, you can apply as a junior associate. As a junior associate, you’ll take responsibility for a discrete part of the problem solving for each engagement with a client. You’ll play a key role in gathering data, contribute to the team's final recommendations, and present your work to senior client executives. You might conduct analyses, interview clients and their customers, plan and facilitate workshops, translate conclusions into recommendations, and help design and implement large-scale organisational-change programs. As you gain skills and confidence, you’ll manage bigger pieces of the problem at hand. We’ll provide extensive training to help you build core consulting skills, and you’ll receive ongoing feedback and mentorship from collaborative teammates. High-performing junior associates can advance as associates, engagement managers, and ultimately as partners of McKinsey.

In addition to generalists, we recruit specialists for our industry and functional practices, such as Financial Services, Pharmaceuticals, Organisation, Industrial & Operations, and Marketing & Sales. Specialists are affiliated with a practice and work across a number of client teams to provide problem-solving expertise in a specific industry or functional area. Progression is based on the merits of their contributions in terms of knowledge and client impact. If you have had significant experience since completing your post-graduate degree, and you have specific expertise in one of our practice areas, you can apply as a practice specialist.
