About Lohini

Lohini is an associate principal in McKinsey’s Johannesburg office and a leader in our Telecommunications, Media and Technology Practice in sub-Saharan Africa. A major focus of her work is on unlocking the potential of information and communication technology (ICT) to transform lives, businesses and national economies in Africa.

Lohini has led and co-authored several research reports on ICT in Africa. Her work on the Internet shows how sound public policy, along with innovation by telecommunications operators, can rapidly accelerate Internet access.

Lohini advises both business and public-sector leaders on approaches to enable and harness the rapid growth of ICT in Africa. For example, she has worked with leading telecommunications players to develop strategies to increase Internet penetration and design the next generation of consumer and business services.

She works with technology companies to expand their footprint in Africa, harness the potential of cloud computing, and make available innovative entertainment products enabled by technology.

Lohini also leads a McKinsey program called Remarkable Women in sub-Saharan Africa, which aims to equip high-potential South African women with the skills to become great leaders. Based on McKinsey’s research on “How remarkable women lead,” the program focuses on participants’ potential and passion, supporting them in generating excitement about their next career phase and making their vision reality.
