About Herbert
Herbert is a leader in our Infrastructure Practice in the Middle East and Africa helping public- and private-sector clients with infrastructure and transport projects. In recent years, he has advised clients on all stages of large-scale infrastructure projects—from planning to financing, construction, and operations as well as transformational change programs.
Since 2007, Herbert has been based in Dubai. Recent examples of his client work include:
- advising public-sector clients in the Middle East on a number of topics, including operational excellence, regulatory strategy, lean processes, the establishment of a delivery unit, and the creation of a national transportation strategy
- assisting with a regional development strategy, including infrastructure and transportation requirements
- helping a country in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region build a transportation and infrastructure plan, including the business and implementation plans for a port, a railway, ferries, and highways
- advising a large development organization on its strategy, business plan, and organizational structure
Prior to joining McKinsey in 1997, Herbert worked as a corporate attorney at the law firm now known as Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer. He studied law and economics in Freiburg, Geneva, Munich, and New York, and earned a PhD from Munich University and a LL.M from New York University.
