About Nuno
Nuno is a Director in McKinsey’s Lisbon office. He is a leader of our worldwide Electric Power and Natural Gas Practice and leads our knowledge development efforts in this sector.
Nuno supports international energy companies across the whole value chain—including upstream gas, generation (including renewables, fossil fuels, and hydro), transmission and distribution, and energy efficiency. Over a 19-year career at McKinsey, he has served clients in Europe, the Americas, Africa and Asia, covering a broad range of issues including strategy, regulation, operations, and organization.
In corporate strategy, Nuno’s work includes developing strategies and business plans for several energy clients; and evaluating alliances and acquisitions to inform multi-utility strategies. He has also supported gas companies, both incumbents and new organizations, in defining their strategies; and has worked with a major renewables company to design its growth plan.
Nuno has also led investment-optimization projects in both generation and distribution; and has shaped several turnaround programs, including the total turnaround of the distribution and commercial businesses of a major utility. He supported one of the largest-ever M&A transactions in the renewables industry, as well as the initial public offering for one of the world’s top five renewable companies.
