At McKinsey, we work together in teams comprised of consultants across tenures. Much of your learning and development will happen within your team. You’ll receive coaching and feedback from your team before, during, and after your projects. Your teammates are there to help and support you.
All our team members have access to the approximately 1,500 knowledge professionals who “consult to the consultants” by providing rapid access to specialized expertise and business information.
This rich resource is unique among consulting firms, and it means that you learn from the best experts our firm can bring to bear on a topic—both within and outside the team room.
Training opportunities
While consultants at McKinsey have diverse backgrounds, we operate as one firm with a global culture. In support of this, all consultants attend tenure-specific, ongoing training in skills related to both consulting and communication. Consultants attend a global training session with colleagues from other offices about every 18 months, which provides opportunities to build a network of peers and to deepen knowledge and skills.
Work/life balance
Working with senior management at client companies can make for unpredictable—and sometimes long—work days. We evaluate the overall quality of each consultant’s work and provide tools, training, and support so that consultants can serve clients well while maintaining a life outside of work. We believe a full life outside of work enables you to be a stronger contributor inside the office.
