About Tim

Tim works across the private and public sector, with a particular focus on healthcare and analytics. In healthcare, he advises senior executives, from both on policy and delivery model design. Tim also leads QuantumBlack Australia, McKinsey’s specialist analytics team. The scope of Tim’s work often span states and regions across the world—giving him a global perspective and a wealth of insight on the latest and most important issues facing his clients.

Tim’s recent client experience includes:

  • designing the long-term blueprint for a state-wide health system, focusing on future disease growth and the services and infrastructure required to support it
  • advising a national government on its healthcare funding model
  • designing and evaluating a large multi-site trial of different care models for people with diabetes
  • designing public health programs using analytics to predict future country-level disease burdens
  • using analytics to predict hospitalisations and cost of care in a population of people with chronic disease
  • designing a national healthcare strategy for diabetes

Prior to joining McKinsey, Tim was a doctor. He also holds a doctorate in neuroscience from the University of Oxford, where he was a Commonwealth Scholar. Tim has a keen passion for medicine and improving people’s lives. He regularly publishes research on healthcare, and serves on the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation’s Research Committee. Tim is also an adjunct Associate Professor at Notre Dame University.
