About Mieke

Mieke is a partner in McKinsey’s Antwerp office, where she focuses on advising financial services institutions and logistics companies on challenges in strategy, organization, service operations, risk management, and merger management.

In the past few years, Mieke has helped a number of European universal banks to develop and implement transformation programs in the wake of the financial crisis. She has supported a multi-year customer-excellence program based on lean-management methods; helped run transformations in corporate banks and in business-support functions such as risk, legal, compliance, and human resources; and advised on a restructuring plan in response to moves by European and local regulators. She has also worked with multiple card and payments processors across Europe and written several articles on payments topics.

In addition, Mieke is active in the logistics industry and has worked extensively with a postal operator. She has helped clients implement new methods of distribution, develop innovative last-mile solutions, and optimize the full value chain from transport to support structures.

Mieke also has deep expertise in M&A and is a co-leader of our work in merger management in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. She leads our workshops to help clients build capabilities in preparation for mergers and has written an article on the lessons learned in banking mergers since the financial crisis.

She holds an MBA from Vlerick Business School and a master’s degree in applied economics from Ghent University.
