McKinsey Internship Programme
Our 3-week McKinsey Internship Programme is open to students studying at South African universities who are in their third year of study. Interns work over their winter break as integral members of our teams, experiencing McKinsey life firsthand. For more details about the program, please e-mail us to express interest.
Business Analyst Programme
Undergraduates typically join us as business analysts and are key members of our client service teams. Some stay for 2 or 3 years before attending business school or gaining further work experience. Others are invited to stay at McKinsey and move directly into an associate role.
Chartered Accountant (CA) Fellows Programme
The Johannesburg office was recently accredited by the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA), which means students who are completing their post-graduate CTA/PGDA degrees at a SAICA accredited university can join McKinsey as a fellow and complete their articles concurrently. Our program will be a TOPP (Training Outside Public Practice) program, a financial management training route that offers an alternative to the conventional Training Inside Public Practice (TIPP) required to qualify as a CA (SA).
McKinsey Leadership Programme
McKinsey’s Johannesburg office strives to reach our transformation aspirations. South Africans interested in spending two years exploring McKinsey and developing problem-solving and leadership skills should consider the McKinsey Leadership Programme. Talented candidates with 1-4 years of work experience from all academic and professional disciplines are invited to apply for the 2-year, full-time program, which trains participants in McKinsey’s tools, methodologies and working style—and offers an unrivalled environment for leadership development and a springboard for a high-impact career. For more details about the next intake, please e-mail us.
Junior Associate and Associate
Junior associates and associates lead a key portion of a McKinsey engagement, combining technical and analytical excellence to help solve their piece of the overall client puzzle. They work directly with senior client leaders to implement change. These roles are suitable for experienced professionals with between 2-to-8 years of solid work experience, and students currently studying towards a doctorate (PhD), law (LLB), medical (MD), non-business master’s degree, or MBA. Candidates applying to these roles have the option to apply to a specific function (e.g. Business Technology, Operations) or as generalists.
Implementation coach/Senior implementation coach
Implementation consultants ensure that clients achieve bottom-line results by working with them from project initiation through implementation. Implementers come from a variety of backgrounds and have 3+ years of work experience, preferably in an operating, line or continuous-improvement role. They also have demonstrated change management skills. Learn more about McKinsey Implementation.
