Banking in Asia - Authors

Tab Bowers is a Director in the Tokyo office. He works mainly on strategic alliance and marketing issues for both Western and Japanese financial institutions. Mr. Bowers co-leads McKinsey’s Financial Institutions Practice in Asia and has worked with financial service clients in McKinsey's New York, San Francisco, Seoul and Tokyo Offices. Recent projects include the complete redesign of wholesale banking and securitization for a leading Japanese bank, a market entry strategy for a major Japanese non-life insurer, and a growth study in Japan for a European private bank. Mr. Bowers is a co-author of Collaborating to Compete (1993) and Banking in Asia: The End of Entitlement (1999).

Greg Gibb is a Principal in McKinsey & Company’s Taiwan office and a core member of McKinsey’s Financial Institutions and Corporate Finance practices. During his twelve years with McKinsey, he has served a broad range of financial institutions and high growth companies in both Asia and the US. In his work, Mr. Gibb has focused on developing greenfield banking strategies, shaping financial institution expansion strategies, redesigning core banking processes, leading organizational restructuring programs, and improving sales force effectiveness. Mr. Gibb is co-author of Banking in Asia: The End of Entitlement (1999).

Jeffrey Wong is a consultant with McKinsey’s Asian Corporate Finance Practice, based in Shanghai, and is closely affiliated with McKinsey’s Financial Institutions Practice in Asia. Since 1999, Jeffrey has served several leading Asian and global financial institutions on strategic and policy issues. Projects include formulating a greenfield entry strategy for an Asian bank, developing a regional growth strategy for a European bank involved in Greater China's personal financial services market, and developing an international strategy for a securities exchange.

Fabrice Desmarescaux is a Principal based in Singapore and leads the Southeast Asian team of the Financial Institutions Practice. During his five years with the firm, he has served financial institutions in every major Southeast Asian market. Fabrice is the lead author for the chapters on Southeast Asia and Singapore.

Chris Beshouri is an Associate Principal of the Asia Financial Institutions Practice, based in Manila. During his six years with the firm, he has served financial institutions and central banks, as well as multilateral institutions such as the IFC and ADB in Southeast Asia and Korea. Chris is the lead author for the chapter on Corporate Banking.

Olivier De Demandolx is a Consultant in McKinsey's Paris office, and was formerly with the Asia Corporate Finance Practice, based in Hong Kong. During his seven years with the firm, of which four years have been in Asia, he has served domestic and global financial institutions across Asia on MA&A and strategic partnership transactions. Olivier is the lead author for the chapter on International Alliances.

Nicolas Leung a Principal based in Hong Kong, is the Head of the Asia Corporate Finance Practice, based in Hong Kong. During his 10 years with the firm, he has served many financial institutions in Europe and Asia on strategy and mergers, acquisitions and alliances. Nicolas is the lead author for the chapter on Domestic Consolidation.

Mayank Parekh is a Principal based in Singapore. He leads the Southeast Asian team of the Corporate Finance Practice. During his seven years with the firm, he has advised local banks on M&A strategies, global banks on M&A entry into Asia, and government agencies on bank asset restructuring. Mayank is the lead author for the chapter on Cross-Border M&A.

Jaehong Park is a Principal of the Asia Financial Institutions Practice, based in Seoul. During his eight years with the firm, he has served retail banks, life & non-life insurance carriers, and credit card issuers on various strategic and operational issues. Jaehong is the lead author for the chapter on Korea.

Emnmanuel Pitsilis is a Principal of the Asia Financial Institutions Practice, based in Hong Kong. During his nine years with the firm, he has served financial institutions in Asia, Europe, and the United States. Emmanuel is the lead author for the chapter on Asset Management.

Christian Raubach is a Principal of the Asia Financial Institutions Practice, based in Taipei. During his six years with the firm, he has served retail and private banks, as well as private equity firms in Europe, Greater China, Southeast Asia, and Korea on credit risk management and wealth management issues. Christian is the co-author for the chapter on Personal Financial Services.

Joydeep Sengupta is a Principal based in Delhi and leads the Financial Institutions Practice in India. During his eight years with the firm, he has served financial institutions in Asia and Europe on retail and wholesale banking issues. He has also served central banks in Asia on banking sector reforms. Joydeep is the lead author for the chapter on India.
