Recruiting

At McKinsey, we cast a wide net in our search for talent. We believe that a variety of life experiences, jobs and courses of study build successful consultants and business leaders. Some of our new consultants are experienced professionals. But for all our hires we look for the following attributes:
Distinctive problem-solving abilities
Excellent academic credentials
Strong interpersonal skills/personal impact
Team player/leader
Strong general business acumen
Outstanding analytic/quantitative problem-solving skills
Drive/aspiration
For those with business experience, a solid career progression and track record of professional success
Foreign language skills: German or French, as well as English.

In addition, we look for the following skills that are specific to IT in candidates for the Business Technology Office:

Understanding of and interest in current IT trends and technologies, their impact on business strategy and their implications for senior managers in creating and sustaining competitive advantage and transforming business processes.
Prior experience with a technology company, an IT consulting firm, a high-performing corporate IT department, or managing large IT projects is desirable, though not a "must".
Deep technical competency in an IT discipline such as IT architecture, IT transformation, post-merger integration, customer value management, technology-enabled operations, or e-business-building is valued, but not required.
