Global Philanthropy Initiative
The Global Philanthropy Initiative examines the evolution of philanthropy around the world and suggests best practices to strengthen giving and make it more effective. Unique philanthropic activities are taking place around the world, yet philanthropists face similar challenges as they push to increase their philanthropic giving in countries with varied cultural, legal and fiscal environments.
Our Philanthropy Practice launched the initiative to examine philanthropic activity on a country-by-country basis. Teams are examining the size of philanthropy markets in specific countries, the strength of their philanthropic institutions, and the current and potential impact of their giving. The countries we are studying are Brazil, Germany, Greater China, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, India, Switzerland, Belgium, Denmark, the United Kingdom, and Ireland.
The initiative’s first two country studies, Germany and Brazil, are publicly available in their respective languages.
