About Jonathan
Prior to assuming his current role as managing director of McKinsey's Telecommunications, Media & Entertainment, and High Tech (TMT) practices in Asia, Jonathan led McKinsey's Southeast Asia practice for six years. He has also worked extensively in greater China. He brings the strategic focus and analytical skills gained over two decades of consulting across three continents to support the strategic agendas of his high tech, telecoms, and media clients.
In the TMT sector, Jonathan has helped create and support corporate and BOC transformations for telcos in the US and seven Asian countries. His recent projects included a global reorganization for a multinational telco, global digital business strategies, global consumer strategies, and convergence strategies for several governments.
Jonathan has deep expertise in China and the ASEAN markets formed through his service to local clients addressing topics such as pricing, marketing, enhancing operational and commercial effectiveness, establishing regulatory approaches, and identifying and resolving culture and human-resources challenges.
He has considerable expertise in the granularity of growth in Southeast Asia, and has shared his perspectives in key regional gatherings including the World Economic Forum's East Asia meetings, Asia Business Leaders' Forum, the Temasek 2011 Roundtable, and the Singapore Business Federation annual Ministerial Dialogue.
Throughout his career Jonathan has complemented his corporate consulting with service to governments and international organizations in Southeast Asia. He was a member of the Economic Strategy Committee of Singapore chaired by the Minister of Finance, and currently sits on the Singapore Government's "Committee on University Education Pathways Beyond 2015." He is on the Board of the Singapore American School, and serves as on the Board of Advisors of the Lee Kong Chian Business School at Singapore Management University.
