About Per-Anders

Per-Anders leads McKinsey's work on Carbon & Energy Economics. He guided the development of the firm's global greenhouse gas (GHG) abatement cost-curves, which are widely recognized as reference points for fact-based analysis of climate economics, and has developed national abatement perspectives for many of the world's largest economies. Recently he worked with the government of a G8 country to assess the implications of potential global climate change agreements on GHG emissions, economies, and equity between countries.

Recent examples of his private sector work include helping one of the largest global oil and gas companies develop a climate change strategy based on an assessment of future energy systems; working with a large investment bank to assess the impact of climate change on industry sectors and outline the implications for investment strategy; supporting M&A projects in the energy and utilities industries; working with an industrial conglomerate to develop a growth strategy in the energy sector; and bringing a sustainability perspective to the development of a portfolio investment strategy for one of Europe’s largest utilities.

Per-Anders continues to push forward McKinsey’s knowledge and research agenda. Recent initiatives have included leading the development of the firm’s carbon-markets model, which models long-term CO2 prices, and a major research initiative to assess the future cost and performance of more than 30 of the most promising clean technologies. He is also working to make McKinsey's perspective on climate economics dynamic by integrating macroeconomic models with the firm's GHG abatement cost curves.
