About Ramesh

Ramesh Mangaleswaran leads McKinsey's Social Sector Practice in Asia. He supports clients in the public, private, and social sectors with strategy and organizational transformations—with a special focus on urban and rural development, public health, and education—including schools, higher education, and vocational institutions.

Guiding philanthropic organizations and clients in the public sector, Ramesh recently helped define an investment strategy in education, including an implementation plan; helped enhance efficiency in the use of water resources; and helped shape an investment agenda to aid people at the bottom of the economic pyramid, primarily in India.

Ramesh also works with clients beyond the social sector, primarily in manufacturing and infrastructure, across Asia, Europe and the US. He was involved in creating and delivering a large-scale leadership development for a top engineering and construction firm in Asia.

With his deep expertise in manufacturing and automotive, he helped develop McKinsey's perspective on "When to make India a manufacturing base" and "Global sourcing in the auto industry," both published in the McKinsey Quarterly.

He volunteers his time as a board member of Pratham, one of India’s largest NGOs in primary education. He also serves on the Executive Council at Chennai City Connect, a non-profit focused on the city's planning and infrastructure needs.
