Drawing on resources from our offices around the globe, we bring a range of functional and industry expertise to assist clients—from finance and agribusiness, to strategy, operations, and organization. In the past five years, we have worked with clients and their stakeholders from the public, private, and social sectors on more than 750 projects, in over 85 countries, on five continents.
We help clients address a range of complex development challenges:
Economic development strategy and transformation
We help clients to develop sustainable economic growth strategies and financial plans that help accelerate GDP growth, trade, investments, and employment. We support comprehensive, country-wide strategies to improve productivity, assist in the creation and expansion of sectors, and generate urban and rural economic renewal. We have deep experience working in low- and middle-income countries, across a range of economic development challenges and sectors where we help promote economic growth, while protecting natural resources.
Rural development and agriculture
We help clients design rural-development programs that improve agricultural productivity, access to markets, infrastructure creation, and the livelihoods of smallholder farmers. We apply our expertise in agribusiness, infrastructure, supply chain management, and large-scale transformation to create business and operating models that attract private, public, and social investment for sustainable economic development.
We work with governments to help them achieve sustainable economies while using resources productively and efficiently. We help shape their pathways to low-carbon economies and support strategies to protect their infrastructure from the negative effects of climate change. We also support water-sector transformations through mobilization of private and public stakeholders. Our green growth work draws on a global network of expertise across every industry, function, and geography. We bring our deep experience in economic development together with the depth of knowledge on climate change and water resources from our Sustainability & Resource Productivity Practice.
More than 2.4 billion adults and 320 million microenterprises remain underserved by the formal financial sector. This represents an enormous opportunity for double bottom line businesses to combine significant social impact with economic sustainability. We draw on our deep global expertise across financial services, telecommunications and other key sectors to help our private, public and social sector clients create new business models and partnerships to expand financial service options for lower income households and businesses. We also help our clients support their customers in building financial knowledge and capabilities. This access to financial services and knowledge enables low-income customers to protect themselves from risks, invest in their families and businesses, and make better choices about their financial future.
We offer a broad range of capabilities and expertise that assist international development agencies in improving the efficacy and efficiency of aid flows. We work on broad organization and change management programs, help improve operations in headquarters and in-country, and help develop program and sector strategies.
Disaster relief and reconstruction
We help clients create rapid-response programs that strategically deploy resources in the aftermath of complex emergencies. We have experience working with clients to support both post-conflict and post-disaster development plans, including strategic coordination of agencies operating in the field, rapid job creation to support security and humanitarian operations, and the establishment of funding mechanisms to manage the procurement and disbursement of aid.
