About Ankush
Ankush is a leader in our Energy and Risk practices. Based in Houston, he works primarily with leading industrial and energy companies as well as commodity traders. His work in risk management includes advising clients on market and trading strategy, risk-return commercial transformations, and operational improvement.
Among recent risk projects, Ankush supported a comprehensive risk-based transformation for a leading energy company that involved adjusting the business portfolio, capital structure, and hedging approach to optimize the risk-return profile. The project contributed to the creation of more than $35 billion in shareholder value in a 3-year span. In another risk-related project, he worked with a leading commodity trading and marketing company to increase profitability by 20 percent and risk-adjusted returns by more than 35 percent in 1 year.
Ankush’s other projects have involved helping an energy service company develop a growth strategy to double its profitability in 5 years, and working with an international oil company to develop and execute an upstream North American entry strategy to build a $20 billion oil and gas business in the region.
Ankush’s thinking on commodity-risk management has appeared in McKinsey publications. He is a regular speaker at conferences, including at the annual convention of the Global Association of Risk Professionals. Prior to joining McKinsey in 2000, Ankush received his PhD in chemical engineering from the University of Delaware.
