About Jon
Jon is a leader in our Public Sector and Strategy practices in the Americas. He advises government agencies and leading companies on questions of strategy and organizational design and restructuring. He has also has been part of our global Media & Entertainment Practice for more than a decade, focusing on broadband-data communications and global regulatory trends. He brings deep knowledge of the transformative impact of new broadband-data technologies on markets, organizations, and regulatory regimes. He is based in Washington, DC.
Jon’s recent projects have included the following:
- leading the restructuring of a government regulatory agency with broad authority over natural resources, environmental protection, and worker safety
- working with the CEO of a large national telecommunications company on a strategic reset and operational turnaround program for its broadband-services business unit, resulting in significantly higher sales growth and profitability
- advising senior leaders of a multinational consumer-electronics company on a strategy for attacking the global smartphone and mobile-data-communications market
Jon first joined McKinsey in 1995. He left in 1998 to lead early broadband-policy development efforts for the Federal Communications Commission before returning to McKinsey in 1999. In 2008, he took a leave of absence from McKinsey to serve on the Obama-Biden Transition Project, where he co-led the agency-review process.
Jon holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science and history from Dartmouth College and a JD from Yale University Law School.
