About Sam
Sam helps lead our Business Technology Practice globally and our Pharmaceuticals & Medical Products Practice in the Americas. He also helps direct our work in big data and advanced analytics in the healthcare arena.
Based in New York, Sam specializes in advising pharmaceutical companies on operations, technology-related topics such as IT strategy and IT organization, and research and development. Recent examples of his client work include the following:
- helping a large pharmaceutical company use big data and analytics to innovate in its approach to payor marketing
- supporting a specialty biopharmaceutical company in using real-word data to shape its products and improve product plans
- advising a leading pharmaceutical company on its strategic approach to “connected health” and big data
- working with a pharmaceutical company to simplify back-office functions and create a global business-services function
- advising a medical-products company on a strategy to position itself as a key supplier of Internet-based services to the healthcare industry
- helping a pharmaceutical company apply lean principles to improve IT infrastructure and application development and maintenance
- supporting a pharmaceutical company in developing and implementing its digital strategy
Prior to joining McKinsey in 1997, Sam was a director at Arthur D. Little. He holds a master’s degree in computer science from the University of Delaware and a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and computer science from the Indian Institute of Technology.
