About Rajat
Rajat leads McKinsey’s Operations Practice in the Asia-Pacific region and serves as a mentor in the Automotive Practice in India. He works with clients in diverse sectors on themes of strategy and operations excellence, emphasizing the importance of holistically addressing operational capabilities–across product development, manufacturing, purchasing, and the supply chain–to drive leadership and dramatically improve performance.
Recent highlights of Rajat’s work include transforming a global steel player’s operations and profitability to achieve world-class levels and assisting an oil and gas company with a large capital project that was completed ahead of schedule and simultaneously strengthened the organization’s project-management capabilities. Additionally, he is active in initiatives to build India’s manufacturing sector and helped catalyze the growth of the country’s automotive industry in partnership with the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association and the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers. Rajat helps companies develop and deliver ambitious globalization plans; for example, he worked with an Indian commercial-vehicle manufacturer to shape and execute a strategy for growth in Asian and Latin American markets, which included a transformation of its sales force and dealership capability. He also assisted a global luxury carmaker in refining its growth strategy and developing manufacturing joint ventures in China.
Rajat joined McKinsey in 1997 and has worked in India, China, South Korea, and Southeast Asia, as well as in Germany, Scandinavia, and the United Kingdom.
