About Ben

Ben leads our integrated care work in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, helping healthcare payors and providers deliver the best possible quality at the lowest necessary cost.

Based in London, Ben works in the UK, US, Australia, and Africa. In addition to his work establishing integrated care systems, he also helps to transform primary care delivery in developed, emerging, and developing countries and works on health system transformation in developing nations.

Ben recently supported one of the largest integrated care pilots in Europe, affecting 500,000 patients, from concept to planning to implementation. The project included setting up a governance structure, supporting physicians as they led the effort to create an integrated clinical pathway, identifying necessary changes to the care delivery system, designing and delivering an informatics solution, and building an operational team for launch and implementation.

The acting chair for McKinsey's integrated care conference, he recently published a report on the elements of successful integrated care, based on research conducted with more than 40 health systems.

Ben's work on primary care transformation combines strategy, organizational development, operational change, and informatics to improve quality and efficiency. His clients have achieved double-digit improvements in areas such as patient access, diabetes control, referral rates, breast cancer screening rates, and immunization rates. He has also helped hundreds of general practitioners to develop more effective networks and collaborate better.

In Africa, his work focuses on improving the effectiveness of health systems to deliver improved outcomes. He helped one African nation develop a plan to double the size of its healthcare workforce and helped another improve its performance in response to the challenges of HIV.
