About Tomas
Based in Seoul since 2002, Tomas is a leader in our Chemicals and Oil & Gas practices in Asia. In addition, he leads our global initiative to help clients build functional and leadership capabilities in Asia. He has applied his industry expertise to numerous projects around the world, with a particular focus on oil and gas companies in China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and Southeast Asia.
Tomas often supports clients as they develop corporate or business-unit strategies. Among his recent work, he has helped many chemical companies based in Asia as they develop their growth roadmaps. This work includes topics ranging from developing the right feedstock strategy, to using a market perspective to prioritize the most attractive derivatives, to developing detailed business unit strategies for related fields like “green chemicals.” Tomas has also supported fully integrated nationally owned petrochemical companies—as well as locally listed and multinational corporations—as they create market-entry strategies for expanding into Asia.
Building the required capabilities to support growth initiatives has become a crucial element in Tomas’ work. Within operations, he has helped develop multi-year capability-building programs for leading energy and chemicals companies in Asia, introduced a new operating system at a leading Korean refinery, and supported leading chemical players on their marketing and sales functions. His organizational work includes the post-merger management of two chemicals companies and the introduction of a new performance culture into an Asian conglomerate.
