About Thomas
Thomas is the global knowledge leader of our Chemicals practice, and is the global director of our Specialty Chemicals work. Based in Cologne, he often works on projects related to strategy, portfolio assessment, functional excellence, mergers and acquisitions, and innovation.
Thomas’ recent work for clients includes:
- Helping specialty chemical companies with business portfolio reviews, holistic turnarounds, commercial excellence programs, and the development of growth strategies;
- Assisting specialty chemical companies in navigating all aspects of the M&A process, including the systematic screening of acquisition targets, due diligence, and post-merger integration;
- Optimizing supply chains, inventory processes, and production networks at chemical companies.
On the knowledge front, Thomas has been a key contributor to a global McKinsey effort investigating the implications of megatrends in the chemicals industry, including their effect on business strategies. He played a critical role in the creation and implementation of InnoMatics, a tool that helps chemical companies assess their innovation performance using both quantitative and qualitative metrics.
