About Alex
Alex is a leader in McKinsey's global Banking and Insurance practices and in the firm's work in sourcing. He assists clients in all sectors on shared services, outsourcing, and offshoring, with a focus on three areas:
- Technology. Alex co-developed McKinsey's methodology for global IT resource strategies and has supported some of the biggest global sourcing programs in IT, in telecom, capital markets, and retail banking.
- Operations. He works closely with capital markets players and corporate banks to restructure their global operations, in particular to create ‘pass-the-book’ networks.
- Staff functions. Alex has been involved in multiple finance-transformation engagements globally and is one of the founders of our work in this area. For example, he helped increase finance function efficiency by 34 percent at a large US retail bank, and supported a European-based global insurance company in creating one of the first offshore global finance sites with suppliers.
Other recent client projects have included a $300 million core technology transformation program for a healthcare-products company; a $100 million demand-management program for a financial institution; developing the technology strategy for a major Internet carrier; and a $650 million infrastructure transformation for a major global financial institution.
