The challenges of using digital technologies

Big data, digital marketing, and social-media tools as well as cloud and mobility are areas that executives see great opportunities in helping transform their businesses. They view these digital business trends more as offensive strategic weapons than as defensive moves.

Our latest survey of executives shows that while many say these trends are strategic priorities they have a long way to go in exploiting them. Nearly half of the executives surveyed say their companies are not investing enough resources to generate much impact. Others say overall organizational shortcomings and a lack of IT capabilities are barriers to meeting their companies’ technology priorities.
