Our office in Austria was established in 1989 to cater to our growing number of local clients and provide a home for our local consultants. Situated in an old palace on Herrengasse Street, our office is right in Vienna’s cultural center.
As a relatively new office, we hold many events to foster closer ties within our community. Our “rookie retreats” for new consultants is a program where we play games, relax, have fun, learn about McKinsey, and—most importantly—get to know each other. We have regular office lunches and host the McKinsey Management Dialogue, where high profile guest speakers and top managers of local businesses come to speak.
The Vienna office is integrated into the larger German office complex so we are also involved in several efforts such as pro bono work for orchestras and museums as well as for health care foundations and hospitals. We established “McKinsey bildet” to help reform and improve Germany’s education system. McKinsey also co-founded “Startsocial,” a nationwide competition of volunteer projects and initiatives where we provide consulting and other assistance.
