Our three-floor office building is situated on the University of Toronto campus and next door to Toronto’s best shopping area. The architectural design won the Governor-General’s award for “plans on paper.” Every desk area has a window that opens and each floor has a fireplace.
Each Friday we have lunches together, some featuring external speakers who talk about and answer questions about important topics of the day. We have a December dinner dance, children’s holiday party, golf day, and ski day over the course of the year to bring us all together.
With the other offices in Canada—Montreal and Calgary—Toronto consultants recently enjoyed a 4-day “Refresh, Re-energize, and Reconnect” retreat. The theme was Canada in the future and featured discussions on a wide variety of topics, including Canada-U.S. relations, risks/opportunities of environmental change, and the future of universal health care. We also enjoyed a few activities many consider typical to our country: dog sledding, skiing, curling, and snowmobiling.
