Our Tel Aviv office opened in May of 2000, with founding members from the London office and guidance from colleagues in Milan. We started with only two permanent members and in less than three years we have grown to more than 20 consultants and 10 support staff members.
The atmosphere in the office—located in the north of the city with a view of the Mediterranean—is young and fun. With only 45 office members it's like a large family, warm and intimate, very welcoming to all—whether someone is new to the firm or is just visiting.
The office is in the Herzliya Pituach area, home to many international firms, high-tech companies and diplomats' residence. Tel Aviv office members have a wealth of restaurants to choose from—whether going for a business lunch or drinks after work. We have monthly happy hours, often at the beach or a trendy club. The office also hosts frequent activities—whether it’s football games on the beach, karaoke evenings, or go-carting competitions. We also like to have parties, either at cool night clubs or art museums on old Jaffa.
The Tel Aviv office has joined the rest of McKinsey’s Mediterranean office complex on retreats, but we’ve had a few of our own as well. We’ve recently gone to Monte Carlo and Eilat on the Red Sea.
