McKinsey’s office in São Paulo holds an annual “integration event” where we play sports and have contests as a way to bond with each other. At our year-end party, we usually rent out a nightclub for good food and dancing for our people and their significant others.
We also organized sports teams to play football, volleyball, and to surf during the weekends for those who are interested. At our year-end party, the “McK Soul-whats”—a jazz band made up of people in our office—performed to great acclaim.
The São Paulo office houses the Ashoka CCES McKinsey (Center for Social Entrepreneurship), an initiative to strengthen the profession of social entrepreneurship and innovation by building a community of cross-sectoral leaders, programs, and innovations.
Every other year, we go on a retreat with our colleagues in the South Latin America office (includes the São Paulo, Santiago, and Buenos Aires offices). Most recently we had a 4-day retreat on Comandatuba island in the state of Bahia. The agenda included external guest speakers, sports activities, and dinner parties, which helped us all to connect and reconnect.
